Hal yg Paling Krusial bagi Kolektor Buku

Bagi sebagian orang ,buku nggak hanya sekedar bacaan berisi pengetahuan ,buku juga menjadi simbol status sosial .Dimasa lalu hanya segelintir orang saja yg memiliki hak istimewa untuk membaca dan memilki buku .Mereka haruslah seorang bangsawan ,kaya ato seorang yg sangat berpengaruh dimasyarakatnya .

Buku juga bagi sebagian orang adalah jembatan menuju masa lalu ,menuju pusaran kenangan .Maka ,nggak heran jika sejumlah buku kemudian memiliki harga yg sangat mahal karena ketuaannya ,penulisnya yg tersohor ,jumlahnya yg terbatas ataupun keunikan lain dari buku tsb .

Melalui buku ini juga gue jadi tertarik untuk mengetahui 100 daftar buku terbaik sepanjang masa versi Modern Library ,buku2 yg menjadi incaran para kolektor .Gue pun membuka situs Modern Library di http://www.randomhouse.com/modernlibrary/100bestnovels.html .

Modern Library

Situs ini memang berisi buku2 terbaik dan terpopuler ,baik itu novel maupun nonfiksi .Termasuk di dalamnya the satanic verses karangan salman rusdie yg sangat kontraversial menyusul adanya fatwa mati Khomeni terhadap penulis buku ini .

The Satanic Verses

Jika sodara seorang kolektor dan berminat mencari buku langka ,maka yakinlah diri sodara sendiri bahwa buku2 tersebut adalah termasuk buku2 yg layak untuk dicari yg termasuk dalam daftar di Modern Library .Cekidot! :

tidak semua buku layak dibaca; contohnya: the great gatsby. terlalu diagung2xkan oleh orang2x amerika karena tidak memiliki novel non fantasy yang bagus. novel amerika yang terbaik adalah moby dick dan a christmas carol.
